The Terminal Manager provides operational leadership to the dispatchers to meet service obligation. Responsible for the smooth operations of freight load and unloads. Coordinate, direct and supervise all activities in the terminals territory. Manage the coordination of company drivers and owner operator’s routes to provide responsive service to our customers. Ensure the efficient and consistent scheduling of runs for all drivers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisesplanners/Dispatch admin – sustaining Professional and Positive role model for dept.
Maintains overview of daily plan/dept. work load
Review previous week truck/load performance:
Primary Customer and Carrier contact
Generate quotes for VP approval in TMW
Recognize and escalate opportunity to General Manager
Minimum monthly review of customers/lanes/rates; escalate issues and opportunities to General Manager
Uses truck match and load optimization software
Proficient in TMW procedure; holds staff and self accountable for accurate data input
Able to complete all Planner responsibilities
Communicates and assists Financial Services with Customer credit related issues
After hours; available to handle issues as escalated by customers or dispatchers
Priority daily dialogue; with GM/VP of Ops/Customers/Planners/Fleet Management
Attends Trade shows and Travels to Customers as required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5 plus years of experience in the Transportation industry
Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and team development
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask constantly shifting priorities
Experience with TMW software system
Ability to use standard office equipment; computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, etc.
Must be able to lift/move up to 20lbs.
Stand long periods of time, walk short distances
Vision abilities; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus
Must be able to read, write, talk and hear
Driver’s license and ability to travel is required
